Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenneth Ray Vale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jun Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jun Akiyama has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenneth Ray Vale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jun Akiyama!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Akiyama scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Vale is looking to escape.
Akiyama scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Akiyama thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vale's head.
Vale wants to get back to his feet.
Akiyama seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vale does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Vale tries to kick Akiyama off but Akiyama keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Akiyama sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Vale defending well though.
Vale pushes Akiyama off looking to stand but Akiyama dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vale has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Akiyama is working away from the top position though.
Akiyama prevents Vale from standing back up.

Vale kicks off Akiyama and gets to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Akiyama tries for a takedown but Vale sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Vale throws a hook to the side of Akiyama's head but Akiyama sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Akiyama closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vale circles away.
Vale rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Akiyama counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Akiyama wants to control from the top but Vale keeps moving.
Akiyama throws a big right hand that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vale wants to stand up but Akiyama is controlling him.
Vale manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akiyama is trying to escape the mount.
Akiyama tries to hold on but Vale pushes him away.
Vale sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Vale trying to control but Akiyama is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Akiyama tries to reverse the position but Vale maintains control.
Vale pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Vale trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Akiyama really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vale. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Akiyama wants to control but Vale is having none of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vale prevents Akiyama from getting the reversal.
Akiyama throwing hammer fists to the chest of Vale. What's that going to do exactly?
Akiyama tries to reverse the position but Vale maintains control.
Vale lands a heavy elbow.
Vale content just to control the position here.
Akiyama is trying desperately to improve position.
Vale tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Akiyama is desperately trying to improve his position but Vale has a good base and remains in mount.
Akiyama tries to hold on but Vale postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vale sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Akiyama wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Vale.
Vale controlling from mount.
Akiyama keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Akiyama can do anything to dispel that myth.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vale can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Akiyama is looking to escape.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Akiyama really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kenneth Ray Vale will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


The fighters circle momentarily. Vale darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Akiyama slips a straight right by Vale.
Akiyama uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vale.
Vale lands a jab.
Vale scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Jun Akiyama is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Akiyama seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Vale shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Akiyama is backing up but Vale catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Akiyama covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Vale Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenneth Ray Vale!
Kenneth Ray Vale managed to slip a mention for his sponsors, 1337 ANZAC , into his post fight interview.
