Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Grzegorz Lato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Afa Kevesi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kevesi has chosen Nation of Violence as his entrance music. Afa Kevesi is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Grzegorz Lato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Afa Kevesi!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lato fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kevesi sprawls well initially but Lato persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lato prevents Kevesi from standing back up.

Lato is taking a breather. Kevesi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lato knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kevesi on the ground.
Kevesi wants to improve his position but Lato is controlling well.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Grzegorz Lato has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

and Lato counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kevesi closes the distance and clinches up with Lato, looking for a takedown. Kevesi pushes Lato against the ropes but Lato circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kevesi shoots in for a takedown but Lato shows good takedown defense.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.



Lato throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kevesi tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lato is in Kevesi's guard.

Afa Kevesi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Lato shoots for a takedown but Kevesi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Kevesi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lato can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kevesi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lato gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kevesi has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lato is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Lato gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Kevesi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kevesi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kevesi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lato scores with a one two! Kevesi had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kevesi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lato's guard.

Kevesi keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lato's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Grzegorz Lato.
I think Lato has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
