PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunther Reza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Riot Act. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gunther Reza!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones gets a double leg takedown into Reza's guard.
Jones looking to sit in guard and control but Reza gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jones can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Reza controls the pace.
Reza throwing strikes from guard but Jones blocks nicely.
Reza postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Reza is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jones bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reza's guard.
Reza seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Jones trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Reza manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reza passes Jones's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Jones pushes Reza off looking to stand but Reza dives back in and keeps control.
Reza perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Jones won't allow Reza to pass to mount.
Jones wants to get back to full guard.
Reza stalling.

Reza is working for a kimura but Jones is defending it quite comfortably.

Jones looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reza with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Reza not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reza trying to mount his opponent but Jones defends it.
Reza passes to full mount!
Jones wants to hold on but Reza pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reza landing strikes, looking to finish!
Reza controlling his opponent.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Reza raining down shots from the mount!

Reza wants to finish this one by submission but Jones is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Reza.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reza pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Reza with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Reza lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Reza lands with some strikes.
Reza content just to control the position here.
Reza looking to finish Jones with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jones!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Reza has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jones's face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gunther Reza dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Reza gets a takedown into half guard.
Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jones won't allow Reza to pass to mount.
Reza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Reza works his way into side control.
Reza sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Jones is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Jones is not content to let Reza control the position.
Jones seems a little lost for a moment, as Reza dominates the positioning.
Reza looks up at the clock and then as Jones takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Reza smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Jones is trying to get back to half guard.
Reza advances nicely into full mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Reza lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jones hang on?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones tries to hold on but Reza postures up.

Jones is rocked!

Reza postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jones looks a forlorn figure.
Oh Jones is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Reza postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Jones out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Reza goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Gunther Reza!
After winning the bout, Gunther Reza thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
