The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparks wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Berry stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Berry wants it to stay on the feet.
Sparks throws a big shot that misses.
Some bone on bone action there as Berry checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sparks is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Berry wants to get back to his feet.
Sparks passes to side control.
Berry parries the strikes from Sparks easily there. Sparks is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Berry to escape.

Sparks is working to tighten is grip on Berry's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Berry has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Sparks is really squeezing tight and eventually Berry passes out! Sparks breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
