PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Double Rainbow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jacob Smith was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Double Rainbow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Smith!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rainbow looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Smith is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Rainbow pushes down on Smith's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Rainbow is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Smith sees it coming and defends easily.

Rainbow is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Smith to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Smith shrugs it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Smith sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Rainbow is working for a kimura but Smith is defending it quite comfortably.

Smith slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Rainbow drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smith manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rainbow has Smith in his guard.
Rainbow is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Smith prevents Rainbow from getting back to his feet.
Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rainbow works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rainbow avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Smith postures up and lands a big shot to Rainbow's brow.
Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Smith working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Smith postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rainbow is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Smith, into his guard.

Smith looking for a guillotine here but Rainbow defends easily.

Rainbow drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rainbow jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rainbow drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Rainbow as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Smith screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Rainbow! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Double Rainbow!
