And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kane Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Velasquez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kessel counters with a left to the body.
Kessel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nice takedown defense from Kessel. No joy for Velasquez on that attempt.
Kessel misses with a jab, cross combination.
Velasquez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kessel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Velasquez somewhat.
Henrik Kessel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kane Velasquez.

Oooooh!!! Kessel has knocked Velasquez down with a huge combo! Kessel steps away and waves a wobbly Velasquez back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Kessel falls off balance throwing a combination

and Velasquez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kessel pushes Velasquez off looking to stand but Velasquez dives back in and keeps control.

Kessel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Velasquez on the ground.

Velasquez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kessel defends it well.

Velasquez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kessel sees it coming and defends easily.
Kessel wants to get back to his feet.
Velasquez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Velasquez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Velasquez trying to control the action but Kessel is working from the bottom.

Velasquez is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Velasquez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kessel has hold of Velasquez's hands but Velasquez slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Velasquez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Kessel!
Velasquez wants to control the pace but Kessel is squirming around nicely.

Velasquez looking to isolate an arm here. Kessel doesn't see it coming and as Velasquez extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Velasquez!
