PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rolls Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarkko Kulmala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the ring accompanied by Wu-Tang Clan - The Mystery Of Chessboxin. Jarkko Kulmala told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rolls Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jarkko Kulmala!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gracie lands in his opponent's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gracie's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Gracie lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gracie scoring with punches to the head and body.
Kulmala controls Gracie momentarily but Gracie frees himself.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kulmala swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gracie is working Kulmala over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Kulmala wants to get back to his feet but Gracie is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Gracie stands and throws Kulmala's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kulmala manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gracie's best efforts.
Kulmala scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Gracie manages to mount him!
Gracie scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Kulmala is bucking up trying to escape but Gracie cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Kulmala can't escape the position.
Gracie tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Kulmala is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Gracie locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Kulmala is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rolls Gracie!
