Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mark Fuentes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fuentes shoots in but Palhares avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Fuentes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Palhares tries to avoid it but Fuentes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Palhares to the ground. Palhares escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Palhares shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fuentes manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Palhares postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rousimar Palhares.
Palhares misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Palhares is defended easily by Fuentes.
Fuentes fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Fuentes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fuentes leaves Palhares with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Palhares shoots in but Fuentes avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Fuentes counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fuentes is breathing heavily.

Fuentes wants to control from the top but Palhares keeps moving.
Fuentes is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Palhares is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fuentes is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Palhares is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Palhares has escaped and now he's on top!

Palhares stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Fuentes has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Palhares manages to get his head free but now Fuentes has transitioned to an armbar! Palhares grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Fuentes! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
