Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamie Daniel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Mason!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Joseph Jones and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mason avoids it really well and circles away.
Daniel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Daniel shoots in for a double leg but Mason sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mason defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Daniel.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamie Daniel. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mason tries to close the distance and clinch but Daniel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Daniel shoots in for a takedown but Mason shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Daniel is breathing heavily.
Daniel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mason can do anything to dispel that myth.

Daniel has control of Mason's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mason regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Daniel throwing strikes here but Mason is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Daniel cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Daniel with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Daniel lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Mason's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Daniel is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mason has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Daniel has hold of Mason's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mason manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's time! Daniel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Daniel moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Daniel jabs Mason right on the nose. Mason blinks but takes it well.

Mason lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Daniel circles away quickly and effectively.
Daniel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mason.

Daniel closes the distance and clinches up with Mason, looking for a takedown. Daniel pushes Mason against the cage but Mason circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Mason throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Daniel shoots in looking for a takedown but Mason manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Daniel's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mason lands a nice hook to Daniel's body. Daniel takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Daniel's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mason connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Daniel scrambles back to his feet.
Daniel dives in and grabs Mason's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mason pushes down on Daniel's head and hops out.
Mike Mason is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Daniel is defended easily by Mason.

Mason scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Daniel doesn't seem bothered though.

Daniel looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Mason takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Mason counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Mason throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Daniel stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Mason tries to sprawl but Daniel drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Daniel is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Mike Mason showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Daniel throws a lazy right hand but Mason sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Mason takes a swing at Daniel's ribcage but misses.
Mason getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Daniel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mason circles away quickly and effectively.
Mason lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Daniel takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Daniel takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Daniel shoots for a double leg takedown but Mason sprawls well. He's pushed Daniel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Horrible takedown by Daniel or perhaps it was just good defense by Mason which made him look bad.

Daniel stalks Mason and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mason's face. Mason staggers backwards, shaken.
Daniel takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Mason feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Daniels jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
