PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between El Camino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alistair Velazquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velazquez has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Alistair Velazquez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, El Camino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alistair Velazquez!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velazquez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Velazquez looks gassed!

Camino shoots in and bounces Velazquez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Camino gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Camino fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Velazquez, pushing him back against the cage.

Camino has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Velazquez uses from the top position.
Camino thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Camino looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Camino pushes Velazquez off and gets back to his feet.

Camino throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Velazquez was covering up waiting for the punch and Camino finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Camino decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Alistair Velazquez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Camino feints and as Velazquez raises his hands in defense, Camino changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Velazquez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Camino postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Camino stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Velazquez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Camino won't allow Velazquez to get back to his feet.

Camino manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Velazquez on his heels. He'll look to pass Velazquez's guard now, I'm sure.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Camino is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Camino won't allow Velazquez to get back to his feet.
Camino knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Velazquez on the ground.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Velazquez is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The ref stands the fighters back up. El Camino wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Velazquez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No joy there for Velazquez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Camino moves into the clinch successfully.

Camino breaks from the clinch.
Velazquez chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Camino can pounce on him.

Camino closes the distance and clinches.

Camino escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Camino moves into range and clinches up with Velazquez.

Camino has clasped his hands together around Velazquez's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Velazquez is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Camino is looking to take a break and control but Velazquez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Velazquez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Camino asserts his dominance and retains side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Camino lands a head kick. Velazquez smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Camino throws a front kick that sends Velazquez stumbling back into the cage.

Velazquez is being controlled here.
Velazquez wants to get back to his feet but Camino drags him back down.

The strikes coming from Camino are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Velazquez is pushing Camino's head away, looking to escape. Camino manages to hold on to the position though.
Camino will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Camino advances to mount.
Velazquez's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Camino content just to control the position here.

Camino has hold of Velazquez's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Velazquez manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Velazquez is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Camino has taken his back!

El Camino has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Velazquez moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Camino feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Velazquez is trying to stand up here but Camino is controlling him well.

Velazquez tries to bum rush Camino with a series of wild strikes but Camino uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Camino misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Velazquez pushes Camino away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Camino gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Camino decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Velazquez throws a wild body kick that Camino sees coming a mile off.
Camino showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Velazquez.
Velazquez swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Camino counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Camino stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Velazquez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Velazquez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Camino working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Camino prevents Velazquez from getting back to his feet.

Camino wants to control from the top but Velazquez keeps moving.

El Camino showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Camino has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
