Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aiden Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Groove (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aiden Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Greg Groove!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Groove shoots for a double leg takedown but Green sprawls well. He's pushed Groove's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Groove shoots in but Green avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Green has taken the fight to the clinch.
Groove prevents the takedown attempt.
Groove tries to score a body lock takedown but Green shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Aiden Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greg Groove.

Groove escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Groove is squirming around, avoiding Green's attempts to control the action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Green prevents Groove from getting the reversal.

Green jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Groove is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Groove and Green has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Green remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Groove is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Green is staying active.

and Green counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Green wants to control from the top but Groove keeps moving.
Green is breathing heavily.
Green is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Groove looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Groove is trying to control the position but Green postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Groove not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Groove looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Green wants to hold on but Groove pushes him away.
Green takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Groove wants to control the pace but Green is squirming around nicely.
Green is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Groove looking to control but Green is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Groove looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Groove is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Green is refusing to be controlled, as Groove sits in half guard.
Green pushes Groove off looking to stand but Groove dives back in and keeps control.

Green might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Groove must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Green has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Green controls Groove momentarily but Groove frees himself.
Green is really struggling to control Groove but he's trying to hold on to the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Aiden Green just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Green takes the fight into the clinch.

Green escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Groove is trying to control the position but Green postures up.
Groove wants to sweep here but Green controlling him for the moment.
Green slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Green decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Green closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

and Green counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Groove has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Green is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Aiden Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greg Groove.

Green breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Green tries to move into full mount but can't pass Groove's legs.
Green moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Groove takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Green is staying tight to Groove's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Groove tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Green wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Green has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Green tries for a takedown but Groove circles away easily
and Groove makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Groove tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Groove misses with a body shot.
Groove misses with a takedown

and Green counters by moving into the clinch.
Groove throws a punch but it's blocked by Green.

Green tightens his grip and picks Groove up, before dumping him to the ground. Groove manages to land in guard.
Greg Groove has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Aiden Green showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Green, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
