Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Hummel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cary Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hummel slips a jab and a cross from Thompson.
Kurt Hummel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Thompson or perhaps it was just good defense by Hummel which made him look bad.
Hummel moves into the clinch.
Hummel goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Thompson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hummel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Thompson as he avoids it easily.

Thompson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hummel pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Thompson throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Thompson tries to break the clinch but Hummel is controlling the position.
Thompson jumps guard but Hummel turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Kurt Hummel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cary Thompson.

Thompson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Thompson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hummel swivels and escapes.
Hummel bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Thompson's head backwards.
Thompson needs to keep his hands up - Hummel had a free shot at his head there.

Hummel throws out a loose jab but Thompson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hummel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Thompson was well out of range. Poor timing from Hummel.
Hummel throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thompson was covering up waiting for the punch and Hummel finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Thompson is on top in guard.

Hummel is pushing down on Thompson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Thompson is fighting to maintain full guard but Hummel has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thompson is looking for a sweep. Hummel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Thompson is trying to control but Hummel manages to pass to mount!

Hummel can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Thompson is looking to escape.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Thompson slips a jab from Hummel.
Hummel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thompson.
Hummel lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Thompson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Thompson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Thompson fakes the leg kick and cracks Hummel in the body.
Thompson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hummel.
Thompson ducks under a wild hook from Hummel.
Thompson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hummel's guard.
Thompson is fighting to break Hummel's control of his arms but Hummel is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Hummel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Thompson defends it easily.
Kurt Hummel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Thompson throws a strike but Hummel rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Hummel is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Thompson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
