The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Braun swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Braun fails with a takedown attempt.
Brooks lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Braun backs up against the cage.
Braun throws a combination. Brooks tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Braun doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Brooks counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Braun wants to control but Brooks postures up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Brooks tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brooks has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Brooks might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Braun kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Brooks thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Brooks wants to control but Braun is keeping him busy.

Brooks swings around for an armbar but Braun sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Brooks's guard.

Braun sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Brooks's guard.
Braun looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Brooks misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Braun.
Braun gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Brooks lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Braun has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Braun and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Brooks throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Braun's waist but Braun gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brooks off to one side.

Eddie Brooks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brooks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Braun doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Braun manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

I've got Brooks winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
