Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zek Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Fausu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Fausu's choice of entrance music: Manu Samoa. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zek Gomez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Fausu!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fausu throws a series of strikes that have Gomez backpedaling.
Fausu lands with an uppercut that bounces Gomez off the cage and back into range.
Fausu gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.


It looks like Tommy Fausu has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gomez misses with a series of wild punches.
Gomez shoots in but no luck this time.
Gomez moves to clinch but Fausu breaks away
and Fausu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gomez misses with a straight right.

Gomez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fausu, pushing him back against the cage.

Fausu has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gomez uses from the top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Gomez trying to control but Fausu is working from the bottom.
Gomez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fausu is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Fausu looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fausu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fausu manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fausu postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gomez looks a forlorn figure.

Fausu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fausu takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fausu lands with some strikes.
Gomez tries to reverse the position but Fausu maintains control.

Fausu working for a submission but Gomez is keeping him at bay.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fausu with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Gomez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fausu on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gomez can't escape the position.
Fausu punishing his opponent with strikes.
Fausu looking to control but Gomez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Fausu prevents Gomez from getting the reversal.
A nice elbow there by Fausu.

Fausu wants to finish this one by submission but Gomez is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Fausu.
Fausu controlling from mount.
BOOM! Fausu connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gomez takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Fausu's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tommy Fausu!
