PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nil Sorsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anton Gromov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Anton Gromov was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nil Sorsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anton Gromov!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sorsky wants to clinch but Gromov slips to the side

and Gromov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sorsky won't be happy with that.
Gromov looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

You can see the frustration on Sorsky's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Sorsky tries to buck Gromov off but Gromov is having none of it.
Sorsky is trying to control Gromov's posture but Gromov avoids it.

Nil Sorsky has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Sorsky is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gromov pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Sorsky has Gromov pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gromov manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Sorsky really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Gromov is pressed up against the cage. Sorsky has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gromov down to the mat. Gromov avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Gromov counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Sorsky!
Gromov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sorsky is looking to escape.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gromov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Gromov has his takedown stuffed

and Sorsky moves into the clinch.
Sorsky is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gromov gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Sorsky drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gromov pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nice takedown defense from Sorsky. No joy for Gromov on that attempt.
Anton Gromov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gromov is breathing heavily.

Gromov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sorsky tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gromov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sorsky moves in looking to clinch but Gromov pushes him off.
Nil Sorsky is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gromov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sorsky sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Anton Gromov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Sorsky not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gromov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Sorsky counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sorsky.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sorsky is working for takedown but Gromov is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nil Sorsky. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gromov turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gromov manages to end up in side control.
Gromov tries to move to mount but Sorsky blocks the move with his legs.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sorsky is trying to escape the position but Gromov is controlling the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Anton Gromov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Gromov winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
