PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonnie Mcartura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jonnie Mcartura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, David Miller!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller has a takedown stuffed.
Miller tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mcartura rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Miller moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mcartura swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Miller closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Miller lands in his opponent's guard.

Mcartura is working an open guard so Miller takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Miller shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Miller closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mcartura quickly recovers to half guard.
Miller throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mcartura is looking for a sweep. Miller is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Miller is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mcartura sees it coming and defends easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mcartura is defending against the submission attempts here by Miller.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Miller decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Mcartura looks to land a combination but Miller avoids it well.
Miller throws a head kick but Mcartura moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Miller is defended easily by Mcartura.
Jonnie Mcartura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Miller.
Miller shoots in and drives through. Mcartura sprawls well.
Miller dodges the punch combination from Mcartura.
Mcartura misses with a few strikes there.

Miller shoots in and bounces Mcartura off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Miller gets to his feet - Mcartura follows without any prompting.
Miller slips a jab and a cross from Mcartura.
Horrible takedown by Miller or perhaps it was just good defense by Mcartura which made him look bad.
Jonnie Mcartura is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mcartura throws a combination that misses
and Miller counters with a body kick that stops Mcartura in his tracks momentarily.
Mcartura is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Miller closes the distance and clinches up with Mcartura, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes Mcartura against the cage but Mcartura circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mcartura slaps away a takedown attempt from Miller, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A head kick misses from Miller.
Mcartura misses with a series of wild punches.
Miller slips a jab and a cross from Mcartura.
Mcartura misses with a double jab

and Miller counters with a shoot takedown. Mcartura fights it but they end up in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Miller with a nice head shot there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcartura working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Miller.
Miller seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Mcartura is working an open guard so Miller takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Miller.
Miller taking a breather here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
It looks like Miller might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miller working the body and head with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Miller is working to tighten is grip on Mcartura's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mcartura has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Miller is really squeezing tight and eventually Mcartura passes out! Miller breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). David Miller!
