PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frank Palmeri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thunder Strike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palmeri comes to the cage accompanied by dragon rider. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Frank Palmeri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Thunder Strike!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Palmeri drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Palmeri decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A nice inside leg kick there by Palmeri. That's going to slow Strike down.

Strike scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Strike is trying to ground and pound but Palmeri uses the momentary lack of control by Strike to regain half guard.
Strike is stalling here. Palmeri is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Strike seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Palmeri has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Palmeri lands a decent elbow from side control.

Palmeri decides to stand up, so the ref orders Strike to his feet.

Palmeri manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Strike on his heels. He'll look to pass Strike's guard now, I'm sure.
Palmeri not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Palmeri has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Palmeri has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Palmeri slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

We're going to have a standup here because Frank Palmeri wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Palmeri seems to be stalking Strike here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Strike drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Frank Palmeri!
