Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mario Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Garry Grappler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Garry Grappler enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mario Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Garry Grappler!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grappler shoots in for a takedown but Cruz shows good takedown defense.
Cruz takes a swing at Grappler's ribcage but misses.
Grappler moves out of range of the body kick from Cruz.
Nice takedown defense from Cruz. No joy for Grappler on that attempt.
Grappler shoots and misses
and Cruz counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Mario Cruz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Garry Grappler.

and Cruz counters by moving into the clinch.
Cruz throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Cruz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cruz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Cruz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Grappler has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cruz has managed to get both his arms back between Grappler's legs - danger averted.

Grappler wants to control but Cruz is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cruz prevents Grappler from getting the reversal.
Cruz controlling the pace for now.
Grappler is bucking up trying to escape but Cruz cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Cruz tries to control but Grappler wriggling away.
Cruz misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Grappler is desperately trying to improve his position but Cruz has a good base and remains in mount.
Cruz breaks from Grappler's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Grappler wants to hold on but Cruz pushes him away.

Grappler is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Poor strikes thrown by Cruz there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Grappler is squirming around, avoiding Cruz's attempts to control the action.
Grappler is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Grappler wants to control but Cruz is having none of it.
Grappler regains half guard.
Grappler is trying to maintain the position but Cruz is very close to passing his half guard.
Grappler might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cruz kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Cruz is keen to just control but Grappler is a slippery customer.
Cruz is really struggling to control Grappler but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Grappler wants to control but Cruz is keeping busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grappler looks for a takedown but Cruz sprawls well.
Grappler shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cruz but Cruz pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Grappler moves out of range of the body kick.
Cruz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cruz lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Grappler shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cruz as he jumps to the side.

and Grappler counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cruz's guard now.
Grappler is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cruz wants to sweep but no luck.

Grappler wants to pass the guard but Cruz is keeping the position.
Cruz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Grappler's guard.
Cruz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grappler on the ground.
Cruz postures up in Grappler's guard and throws a big left but Grappler blocks it.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Cruz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Grappler tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cruz is in Grappler's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cruz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Grappler is looking to control Cruz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Grappler avoid being mounted?
Grappler is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cruz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cruz's back!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Grappler is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cruz is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cruz has escaped and now he's on top!

Grappler swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cruz is now in Grappler's guard. A big mistake from Grappler there, giving up the dominant position!

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Garry Grappler has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Cruz closes the distance and pushes Grappler back into the cage.

Grappler jumps guard but Cruz stands there with Grappler around his waist. Grappler gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Grappler is fighting off a takedown attempt but Cruz is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Grappler to the mat. Grappler regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Garry Grappler has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Grappler is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cruz regains full guard. Nicely done.
Cruz throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Grappler is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

The referee warns Cruz that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Grappler cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

And that's the end of the fight!
Garry Grappler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Cruz has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
