PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Turrett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Benevides (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turrett comes into the arena with Criticize blaring out of the sound system. Paul Turrett had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.5lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Paul Turrett looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benevides shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Turrett counters with a takedown into side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Turrett is looking to take a break and control but Benevides is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Benevides can't do much from the bottom here.
Benevides chipping away with strikes from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Benevides's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Benevides is looking for a sweep.

Benevides wants to control but Turrett postures up.
Turrett tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Turrett wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Benevides, who protects the arm well.
Benevides manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Benevides is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Turrett is tapping! Great win for Benevides!
