Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marc Schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schmidt comes to the cage accompanied by Rammstein - Feuer Frei. Rodriguez has chosen disturbed- pain redefined as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Marc Schmidt is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rodriguez shoots in and gets a takedown into Schmidt's guard.

Rodriguez wants to pass the guard but Schmidt is keeping the position.

Rodriguez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Schmidt's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Schmidt's back!
Rodriguez is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Rodriguez gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Rodriguez gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Rodriguez apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Schmidt takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown but Schmidt shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Schmidt has his hands clasped together around Rodriguez's back. He's all about the action.

Rodriguez is taking a breather. Schmidt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Schmidt wants to control but Rodriguez is keeping busy.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Rodriguez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rodriguez throws a series of punches but Schmidt moves out of range.

Rodriguez wants the takedown. Schmidt is fighting it off but Rodriguez persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Schmidt's guard against the cage.

Rodriguez is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Schmidt has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Schmidt!

Rodriguez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well Rodriguez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
