Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Anzor Azhiev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leon Enzaghi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anzor Azhiev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Leon Enzaghi!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Enzaghi throws a right hand that misses

and Azhiev counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Enzaghi is positioning himself well to prevent Azhiev advancing to mount.
Enzaghi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Azhiev looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Azhiev stalling away here and it's allowed Enzaghi to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Enzaghi is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Enzaghi wants to stand but Azhiev is controlling the position.
Azhiev slips nicely into half guard.
Azhiev passes to side control.
Azhiev looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Enzaghi is avoiding damage well.

Azhiev wants to control but Enzaghi is keeping him busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Anzor Azhiev just wasn't active enough.

Enzaghi gets tackled into the cage by Azhiev. Azhiev maintains the clinch.

Enzaghi has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Azhiev is trying to keep an underhook but Enzaghi manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Leon Enzaghi was stalling too much, according to the referee.

That was a close round but I would say that Anzor Azhiev will probably get the nod.
That's time! Azhiev's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Azhiev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Enzaghi's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Enzaghi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Azhiev with a flurry of punches that miss.
Azhiev trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Anzor Azhiev.
A clash of legs there as Azhiev blocks the low kick.
Azhiev looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Enzaghi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Azhiev shoots in looking for a takedown. Enzaghi tries to sprawl out of it but Azhiev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Enzaghi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anzor Azhiev. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Enzaghi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Enzaghi lands in his opponent's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Leon Enzaghi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Azhiev is trying hard to land a takedown here. Enzaghi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Enzaghi closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Azhiev to the mat! Azhiev manages to get full guard.
Azhiev pulls Enzaghi in close to prevent any damage.

Enzaghi tries to free his leg and advance position but Azhiev is retaining full guard.
Azhiev tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Enzaghi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Enzaghi gets to his feet. Azhiev looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Azhiev throws a body kick that misses.

Azhiev feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Enzaghi wants to get back to his feet but Azhiev is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Enzaghi is refusing to be controlled, as Azhiev sits in half guard.

Enzaghi is looking for a sweep. Azhiev is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Anzor Azhiev has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Azhiev fails with an attempt to clinch.
Azhiev tries to clinch but Enzaghi is having none of it.

and Enzaghi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Azhiev won't be happy with that.
Enzaghi cracks Azhiev with a big right hand but Azhiev just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Who's going to make the next move?
Enzaghi just content to control the position.

Azhiev sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Enzaghi is taking a breather. Azhiev says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Azhiev is looking to control Enzaghi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Azhiev avoid being mounted?
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Enzaghi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Azhiev with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Leon Enzaghi.
I think Enzaghi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
