The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Amelia.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Amelia tries for a kimura but Goodwin is defending well.
Goodwin is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
A lull in the action here as Amelia stalls from top position.

Amelia stands up.

Amelia scores with a takedown into Goodwin's guard.

Amelia stops Goodwin from getting back to his feet.

Amelia uses his free foot to push down on Goodwin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Goodwin.

Amelia jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Goodwin is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Goodwin and Amelia has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Amelia is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Goodwin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Goodwin tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Amelia presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

You get the feeling that Goodwin really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Amelia postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Goodwin looks a forlorn figure.
Goodwin tries to reverse the position but Amelia maintains control.
Goodwin is breathing heavily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Amelia is working for a guillotine from mount but Goodwin frees his head quite easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Goodwin is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Amelia locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Goodwin is forced to tap!
