PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gage Coulter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Lorence (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coulter misses with a takedown attempt

and Lorence counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lorence.
Lorence is trying to break the clinch but Coulter has him pressed against the cage.
Lorence tries to stall but Coulter uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
A head punch on the inside from Lorence fails to land.
Lorence has Coulter pressed against the cage.

Lorence gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Lorence seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lorence thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Coulter's head.

Lorence not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Lorence is trying to control the action in half guard but Coulter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Lorence tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Coulter.

Lorence is working for a submission of some sort.
Lorence tries to stand but can't do so whilst Coulter controls his leg.

Coulter avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lorence.
Lorence tries to stand and escape but Coulter is controlling the position.
Lorence really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coulter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Coulter has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Lorence. Oh but Coulter has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Lorence goes limp - he's gone! Coulter jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Gage Coulter!
After the fight, Gage Coulter was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
