Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drop Candy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luca Martini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Drop Candy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luca Martini!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Candy looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Martini is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Candy is controlling him.

Martini seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Martini striking off his back but it's not causing Candy any problems.
Martini is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Candy won't allow Martini to sweep him here.
Martini is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Martini really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Candy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Candy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Martini drives through with a takedown into guard.
Martini throws an elbow that misses. Candy uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Martini's guard. Nice move by Candy!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Martini can do anything to dispel that myth.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Martini is on top in guard.

Candy wants to get back to his feet but Martini is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Candy lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Martini!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Candy is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Martini can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Candy manages to capitalize on a mistake by Martini to take his back!

That was a close round but I would say that Drop Candy will probably get the nod.

Candy is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Martini has managed to free his arm - good work.
Martini is not content to let Candy control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Martini is looking to improve his position.
Candy wants to stand up but Martini is controlling the position.
Martini won't allow Candy to pass to mount.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Drop Candy wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Martini throws a nice looking combination but Candy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Candy avoids a punch combination nicely.
Luca Martini seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martini is breathing heavily.
Martini jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Martini is defended easily by Candy.

Candy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Candy showed some decent athleticism there.
It looks like Candy is going to stand back up.
Martini is staying active underneath Candy, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Martini flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

We're going to have a standup here because Drop Candy wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Candy is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Martini's half guard.

Candy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Martini is just riding it out for now. Candy eventually gives up the hold.
Martini is in trouble now - Candy has advanced to mount!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Candy throwing strikes here but Martini is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Martini shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Candy sprawls well. Candy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Martini gets slowly back to his feet.

Drop Candy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Candy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Candy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Martini looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Candy is looking to take a break and control but Martini is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Candy decides to stand back up.
Martini shoots in but Candy avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Candy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Martini was covering up waiting for the punch and Candy finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Martini is looking to sweep but instead, Candy has passed into half guard.
Martini tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Candy has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Candy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Martini is looking to escape.
