Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sye Moon Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leandro Rodrigues!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim lunges at Rodrigues with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Rodrigues's hand.
Rodrigues looks to score with a jab to the body but Kim is just out of range.
Rodrigues shoots in but no luck this time.
Kim throws a right and a left that Rodrigues avoids nicely.
Leandro Rodrigues seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodrigues shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rodrigues was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Kim wants to get back to his feet.
Rodrigues lands with some strikes.
Rodrigues has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kim is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Rodrigues landing punches.
Rodrigues pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rodrigues working for a guillotine from mount but Kim is in no mood to give up.
Rodrigues lands a big shot there that rocks Kim but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kim is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Rodrigues unloads with some shots from mount but Kim bucks and avoids them well.
Kim is in a horrible position here. Rodrigues smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Rodrigues raining down hammerfists from mount.
Kim in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Rodrigues looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Kim has left one of his arms exposed and Rodrigues doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Kim screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
