The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vempula scores with a kick to the body.
shaw takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
shaw just misses with a punch to the body.
shaw looks gassed!
Vempula throws a head kick but shaw moves out of range.
A head kick lands from Vempula that sends shaw to the canvas. shaw tries to scramble back to his feet but Vempula brings him back down into side control.

shaw is rocked!

It looks like roy shaw has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vempula controlling the position.
shaw is still in real trouble! Can Vempula finish him?
shaw wants to control but Vempula postures up.
shaw seems to have recovered his senses.
Vempula moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Vempula feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to shaw's calf.

Vesa Vempula seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vempula throws a head kick but shaw moves out of range.

shaw tries to bum rush Vempula with a series of wild strikes but Vempula uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Vempula lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as shaw crumples to the floor! Vempula milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!
