The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom catches Mendes with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Jesus Mendes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A looping hook to the body misses from Mendes. Boom does a little dance to reset his feet.

Mendes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Boom's guard.

Mendes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mendes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
