PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brik Holtik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John has chosen Jimmy Dean - Big John as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brik Holtik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Big John!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holtik shoots for a takedown but John saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
John tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Holtik fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
John pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Holtik changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. John tries to avoid it but Holtik manages to keep hold of a leg and drag John to the ground. John escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brik Holtik. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Holtik looks for a takedown but John sprawls well.

John gets caught napping as Holtik dives in and scores a takedown. John manages to retain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Holtik is fighting to break John's control of his arms but John is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
John swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Holtik throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around John's waist but John gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Holtik off to one side.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Holtik tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but John wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Holtik is trying to control John's posture but John avoids it.
Holtik is trying to escape the position but John is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big John dominated that round.
That's time! Holtik's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

John lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Holtik down.
Holtik is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on John's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
John is nestled in close to Holtik, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

John lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
You can see the frustration on Holtik's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big John showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


John throws the left hand but Holtik avoids the punch easily.

Holtik takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

John changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Holtik looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Holtik has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. John is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Holtik.

Big John comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well John has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
