Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tim Cooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Blue Steel!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steel scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Cooper can't do much from the bottom here.
Steel working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Steel throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Cooper avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Steel.
Cooper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Steel on the ground.

Steel is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cooper has escaped the position, nice work there.
Cooper is looking to reverse the position.

Cooper could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Cooper tries to improve position but can't.

Steel thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Steel is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cooper is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Steel goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cooper rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Steel's guard! Nice work there by Cooper!
Cooper has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Steel controls Cooper momentarily but Cooper frees himself.
Cooper trying to control but Steel is working from the bottom.

Steel is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Cooper wants to get up but he can't break Steel's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cooper tries to free his leg and advance position but Steel is retaining full guard.

Steel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cooper defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Steel shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Cooper might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Steel is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Cooper manages to get to full guard.

Steel is looking to work some ground and pound but Cooper has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Steel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cooper wants to sweep here but Steel controlling him for the moment.
Steel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cooper is keeping the position for now.

Steel drops back looking for a leg! Cooper is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cooper manages to kick Steel off! Steel jumps back into Cooper's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Steel drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cooper manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Steel has Cooper in his guard.
Steel wants to control the position but Cooper says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Steel moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cooper wants to stand but Steel is controlling his posture from full guard.

Steel has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Cooper doesn't defend quickly enough and Steel has managed to lock this one up! Can Cooper escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Steel on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Blue Steel!
During a confident post fight interview, Blue Steel thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
