Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephen Geisbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Stephen Geisbert!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Geisbert's waist but Geisbert gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Diaz off to one side.
Geisbert closes this distance looking for a takedown but Diaz circles away.

Geisbert dives in and scores a takedown into Diaz's guard.
Diaz working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Geisbert.
Diaz keeping moving, preventing Geisbert from controlling successfully.
Geisbert wants to stand but Diaz has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Geisbert wants to pass the guard but Diaz is keeping the position.
Geisbert throws a big right hand that misses.

Diaz keeping moving, preventing Geisbert from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Stephen Geisbert.
Geisbert shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Diaz as he jumps to the side.

Geisbert forces Diaz back against the cage and clinches.

Geisbert breaks from the clinch.
Diaz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Geisbert is fending him off so far but Diaz persists. Nope, Geisbert circles away and we're back to standing.
Geisbert slaps away a takedown attempt from Diaz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Geisbert stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Geisbert wants it to stay on the feet.
Geisbert shoots in looking for a takedown but Diaz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Geisbert's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Diaz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Geisbert moves into the clinch.

Geisbert keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Diaz's efforts to push away.
Geisbert swings wildly with an uppercut but Diaz uses good head movement to avoid it.

Geisbert breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Geisbert throws a series of punches but Diaz moves out of range.
Diaz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Geisbert fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Diaz avoids it really well and circles away.
Diaz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Geisbert keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Diaz is breathing heavily.

Geisbert has closed the distance and engaged Diaz in a clinch.

Geisbert manages to pull guard.
Diaz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Geisbert looking for a sweep. Not yet Geisbert, not yet.
Geisbert tries to strike from the bottom.

Diaz has gone for a leg lock! Geisbert slips out almost immediately though and dives into Diaz's guard.

Diaz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Diaz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Diaz tries to clinch up but Geisbert circles away and keeps his distance.

Diaz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Geisbert circles away quickly and effectively.

Geisbert slaps away a takedown attempt from Diaz, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Geisbert prevents Diaz from getting back to his feet.
Geisbert must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Geisbert is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Geisbert tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard.
Diaz wants to stand up but Geisbert is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Nick Diaz just wasn't active enough.
That kick from Geisbert tenderised Diaz's leg. Diaz is trying to keep his angry face on.

Geisbert shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Diaz as he jumps to the side.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Diaz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Geisbert is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Geisbert really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Diaz throws an elbow that misses. Geisbert uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Diaz's guard. Nice move by Geisbert!
Geisbert is fighting to break Diaz's control of his arms but Diaz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Geisbert stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Geisbert but Geisbert pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Geisbert throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Geisbert is in Diaz's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Geisbert escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Stephen Geisbert will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Diaz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Diaz leaves Geisbert with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Geisbert fails to land the takedown.
Geisbert displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Diaz.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Geisbert.
Nick Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephen Geisbert.
Diaz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Geisbert circles away.
Geisbert takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Geisbert shoots in but Diaz avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Diaz dives in and grabs Geisbert's left leg, looking for a takedown. Geisbert pushes down on Diaz's head and hops out.

Diaz closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Geisbert's guard.

Geisbert is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Diaz defends well.
Diaz postures up in Geisbert's guard and throws a big left but Geisbert blocks it.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Diaz's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Diaz keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Geisbert's head.
Diaz is standing up over Geisbert. Geisbert looks to escape but Diaz dives into side control.
Geisbert is working to avoid the ground and pound but Diaz connects with a decent elbow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Geisbert takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Diaz is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Geisbert knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz has an Americana. Geisbert didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Diaz is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Diaz hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
