Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gooze drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Gooze throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vargas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Vargas trying to keep a closed guard but Gooze is proving a slippery customer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gooze accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Vargas can't keep his opponent in guard - Gooze advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Gooze is looking for a kimura but Vargas is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gooze to get the leverage.

Gooze is working for a submission of some sort.
Gooze working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Gooze will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gooze scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Gooze looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vargas with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Gooze is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vargas is just riding it out for now. Gooze eventually gives up the hold.

Gooze has an Americana. Vargas didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Gooze is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Gooze hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
