The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Veles.
Veles lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Veles has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Silva looks to land a combination but Veles avoids it well.

It looks like Dante Veles has been cut.
Silva tries to bum rush Veles with a series of wild strikes but Veles uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Veles drops back looking for a leg! Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silva manages to kick Veles off! Veles jumps back into Silva's guard.

Veles throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Silva works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Veles advances to half guard.

Veles wants to work for an arm triangle but Silva is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Veles seems to be looking for submissions.

Veles looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Veles thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Veles is looking for a kimura but Silva is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Veles to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
