PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sou Saluki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robert Frost struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sou Saluki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robert Frost!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frost closes the distance and clinches up with Saluki, looking for a takedown. Frost pushes Saluki against the cage but Saluki circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Saluki drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Saluki advances to full mount.
Frost is working to get back to half guard.
Saluki in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Saluki trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Frost looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.

Saluki has hold of Frost's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Frost manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Frost is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Saluki with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Frost defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Saluki.

Saluki can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Frost is looking to escape.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Frost is looking for a sweep. Saluki is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Frost wants to control but Saluki is keeping busy.

Saluki is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Frost moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Frost looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Saluki closes this distance looking for a takedown but Frost circles away.

Saluki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Frost looking for a guillotine here but Saluki defends easily.

Saluki connects with a couple of short punches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Saluki tries to free his leg and advance position but Frost is retaining full guard.

Frost is looking for a triangle but Saluki pushes his legs off easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Frost is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sou Saluki will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Frost moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Frost closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Saluki to the mat! Saluki manages to get full guard.

Frost decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Saluki, up you get!

Frost wanted to stand there but Saluki had control of the position.

Saluki is looking for a triangle but Frost pushes his legs off easily.

Saluki had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Frost is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Saluki Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Frost's back instead.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Frost tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Saluki goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Frost is on top in guard.

Saluki wants to improve his position but Frost is controlling well.
Frost is looking to advance position but Saluki won't allow it.

Saluki regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Frost.

Saluki throws his legs up looking for a submission but Frost uses it to pass to side control.
Saluki is not content to let Frost control the position.
Frost lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Saluki down.

Frost decides to stand up, so the ref orders Saluki to his feet.
Saluki misses with a takedown attempt - Frost sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Frost showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Saluki takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Frost throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Saluki drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Robert Frost has got the better of the ground game so far.
Frost is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Saluki wants to control from the top but Frost keeps moving.
Saluki pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Frost is keeping the position for now.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Frost looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Saluki wants to get up but he can't break Frost's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Frost looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Frost isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Saluki stacks Frost on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Saluki!

Saluki thows a big elbow that misses.

Saluki avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Saluki gets to his feet. Frost looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Saluki really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Frost throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Saluki.
Saluki shoots in and drives through. Frost sprawls well.
Saluki looks for a takedown but Frost sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sou Saluki. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Frost shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Saluki as he jumps to the side.

Saluki drops back looking for a leg! Frost is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Frost manages to kick Saluki off! Saluki jumps back into Frost's guard.

Saluki wants to pass the guard but Frost is keeping the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Frost is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Frost escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Saluki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Frost fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Saluki looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Saluki tries for a takedown but Frost circles away easily
and Frost counters with a left and a right that stings Saluki.
Frost scores with a three punch combo!

Saluki drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Saluki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Frost keeps working.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sou Saluki.
I think Saluki has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
