PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Conroy Blevins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Marley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blevins comes to the cage accompanied by she thinks my tractor is sexy. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Conroy Blevins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bob Marley!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marley is looking to clinch but Blevins is avoiding it.

Blevins shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Marley napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Blevins thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Marley manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Marley is trying to work for a kimura but Blevins is defending well.
Blevins is looking to improve his position.
Blevins trying to control but Marley postures up.
Blevins is staying active underneath Marley, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Blevins is holding on to half guard well.
Blevins is trying to control but can't.
Marley tries to pass the half guard into mount. Blevins knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Marley cracks the inside of Blevins's front leg.

Blevins moves into the clinch.

Blevins ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Blevins no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marley looking to sit in guard and control but Blevins gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Marley looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Blevins seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Blevins is breathing heavily.

Marley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Blevins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Marley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blevins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Blevins manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Blevins wanted to stand there but Marley had control of the position.

Marley is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Blevins is aware though and is defending well.

Marley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Blevins defends it nicely.

Blevins not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Marley is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Marley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blevins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Marley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Blevins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Blevins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Blevins's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bob Marley will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Blevins decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Marley's guard.
Blevins is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Blevins's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Marley is looking for a triangle but Blevins pushes his legs off easily.

Blevins stands up and waves to Marley to follow him.
Marley doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Blevins decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Marley's guard.
Conroy Blevins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Marley.
Blevins slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Blevins got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Blevins has managed to get both his arms back between Marley's legs - danger averted.

Blevins is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

We're going to have a standup here because Conroy Blevins wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Marley moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Conroy Blevins is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Blevins closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Marley quickly recovers to half guard.
Blevins not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Marley tries to roll over but Blevins keeps him under control.
Blevins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Marley with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Blevins is pressing down on Marley's thigh, looking to free his foot. Marley is holding on for now.
Blevins is working hard here to advance position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marley flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Conroy Blevins dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Marley wants to clinch up but Blevins keeps it at a distance.
Blevins circles away from the clinch attempt.

Blevins darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Blevins wants to control but Marley is keeping him busy.

Marley wants to get back to his feet.
Conroy Blevins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Blevins looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Blevins is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Conroy Blevins.
Marley misses with a takedown

and Blevins counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Blevins passes into side control, despite Marley's attempt to control the position.

Marley can't do much from the bottom here.

Marley looks to move to half guard but instead Blevins has passed into mount! Damn!
Blevins unloads with some shots from mount but Marley bucks and avoids them well.

Marley sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Marley is looking to get back to full guard here but Blevins has managed to pass to side control instead.
Marley looks to move to half guard but instead Blevins has passed into mount! Damn!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Marley is working to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Conroy Blevins showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Blevins has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
