Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Woolett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shawn Woolett looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Woolett!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woolett shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and White counters with a single leg into guard. Woolett didn't expect that.
Woolett looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
White trying to control the position from guard on top but Woolett is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
White has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
White content to stall in guard here.
Woolett is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
White wants to control from the top but Woolett keeps moving.
White stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Woolett swivels though and keeps the full guard.

John White has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Woolett takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

White looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
White keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Woolett's head.
White trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

White's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Woolett has a closed guard, preventing White from standing up.
White in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
White is looking to stand up but Woolett won't let him.
White is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

John White has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Woolett shoots and misses

and White counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Woolett!
White tries to control but Woolett wriggling away.
White is landing with some decent strikes but Woolett is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


Woolett is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
White sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Woolett is still in real trouble! Can White finish him?

White is working for a guillotine from mount but Woolett frees his head quite easily.

White controlling his opponent.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

White wants to finish this one by submission but Woolett is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from White.

White is working for a guillotine from mount but Woolett frees his head quite easily.
Woolett seems to have recovered his senses.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Woolett regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John White dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Woolett tries for a takedown but White circles away easily

and White counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Woolett!
White knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Woolett on the ground.
White tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

White is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Woolett to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Woolett shrugs it off.
White landing strikes, looking to finish!

White controlling his opponent.
Woolett is desperately trying to improve his position but White has a good base and remains in mount.
White trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Woolett is breathing heavily.
White lands a nice shot to the head.
Woolett working to try and regain half guard.
White lands a nice shot to the head.
White unloading with bombs!
White looking to control and managing it successfully.
Woolett really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
White scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Woolett?
White tries to control but Woolett wriggling away.
White is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Woolett is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

White has control of Woolett's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Woolett regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Woolett is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John White dominated that second round.
That's time! White's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


A left and a right from White both land. Nice combination.

White rushes Woolett and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Woolett turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Woolett manages to end up in side control.
White struggling a bit here.

Woolett is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, White has escaped the position, nice work there.
White is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Woolett off and has taken his back!
White is working the ground and pound. Can Woolett escape?
White trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Woolett takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
White scores with punches and elbows.

Woolett prevents White from getting a body triangle.
White is punishing Woolett with strikes - can he finish him?!
John White overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
White is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
White is hanging on to Woolett's back as he tries to escape.
Woolett is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by White.
Woolett staying busy and making it hard for White to control.
White keeps control of the position as Woolett tries to break free.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Woolett is trying to remain composed but White is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - White's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
White is landing with strikes from the back.
Woolett is covering up but some of the strikes from White are getting through and doing damage.
Shawn Woolett has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Woolett rolls, trying to escape but White keeps control of the position.
White throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Woolett!
John White is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

John White showed his dominance in that final round.
Well White has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
