Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gabriel Van!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jackson Cage!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cage fails to land the takedown.

Cage looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Van trying to control the position.
Van controlling Cage's posture.
Van wants to sweep but no luck.
Cage really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Van. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Van is trying to keep Cage in close.

Van throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Van is breathing heavily.
Van pulls Cage in to control the position.
Cage passes Van's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cage thows a huge punch but Van dodges it nicely.
Cage scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Van regains full guard. Nicely done.
Van keeping full guard, as Cage tries to pass.
Van wants to sweep here but Cage controlling him for the moment.

Van seems keen to control Cage's posture.
Cage wants to stand but Van is controlling his posture from full guard.
Van keeping moving, preventing Cage from controlling successfully.
Van bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cage's guard.

Van with a flurry of punches that miss.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cage can do anything to dispel that myth.
Van trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Van postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cage doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Van trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cage looking to hit a scissor sweep but Van is one step ahead there.
Van missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Van is looking to clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cage misses with a series of wild punches.
Cage looks for a takedown but Van sprawls well.
Van shoots in looking for a takedown. Cage tries to sprawl out of it but Van keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cage manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gabriel Van seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Van counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Gabriel Van has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jackson Cage.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Van.
Van will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Cage pushes Van away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Van gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Van works to advance to full mount. Cage defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Van misses with a combination

and Cage counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Van is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Cage trying to control the position from guard on top but Van is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Van is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cage is trying to get back to full guard.
Van trying to control from half guard but Cage is working away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cage looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Van keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Cage flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Van is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van wants to pass the guard but Cage is defending well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cage is looking for a sweep. Van is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cage gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Van counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Cage is refusing to be controlled, as Van sits in half guard.
Van controlling the action here.

Van is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Van prevents Cage from improving his position.
Van works his foot free and advances to mount.
Van controlling from the full mount.
Cage is in all sorts of trouble here.

Van has control of Cage's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cage regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Van tries to control but Cage wriggling away.

Van wants to finish this one by submission but Cage is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Van.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Cage tries for a takedown but Van sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Van is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cage walks into a jab.
Cage with a poor takedown

and Van counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Van landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Van looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Van wants to take a breather but Cage is having none of it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Van not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Cage makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cage.
Van trying to control the position from guard on top but Cage is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cage looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Van slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Van is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cage knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Van in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Cage takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Cage is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Van passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Cage!
Van looking to control but Cage is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Cage is desperately trying to improve his position but Van has a good base and remains in mount.

Van prevents Cage from improving his position.
Cage is trying to stand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cage wants to control but Van is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Cage tries to get to full guard but Van has control of the leg.

Cage tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Van has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Van looking to control but Cage is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Well Van has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
