The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gomes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Calix's waist but Calix gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gomes off to one side.

Gomes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Gomes turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gomes manages to end up in side control.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Calix has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gomes is proving hard to escape from.

Gomes's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Calix connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gomes scrambles back to his feet.

Gomes darts in and clinches Calix up against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to Barroso Gomes.
