PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sergio Bodi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Redfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sergio Bodi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Chris Redfield!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redfield swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bodi counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Redfield ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bodi moves away.
Redfield misses with a combination
and Bodi counters with a nice uppercut.

Bodi gets a clinch.
Bodi on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Bodi breaks the clinch.
Redfield looks to throw the jab but Bodi is out of range.
Redfield moves forwards but Bodi connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Bodi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Redfield quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Redfield tries to get to full guard but Bodi has control of the leg.
Well, if Bodi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Bodi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Redfield is looking to control Bodi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Redfield avoid being mounted?
Bodi seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Sergio Bodi wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Redfield walks into a straight right hand from Bodi.
Redfield is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

A shot to the liver by Redfield. Beautiful body shot.
Bodi fails to land with a series of punches.
Redfield takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Bodi stuffs the takedown attempt from Redfield. Redfield gets slowly back to his feet.
Bodi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Redfield misses the target.
Bodi has a takedown stuffed.
Redfield pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Bodi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Redfield.

Redfield looks gassed!
Bodi shoots for a takedown but Redfield saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Redfield throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Bodi moves into the clinch.

Bodi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Bodi thumps Redfield with a low kick.
Bodi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergio Bodi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bodi stuffs the takedown attempt from Redfield. Redfield gets slowly back to his feet.
Redfield throws a wild body kick that Bodi sees coming a mile off.
Bodi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Redfield shoots and misses
and Bodi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Redfield is rocked!
Redfield looks to land a left hand but Bodi moved out of range nicely.

Bodi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bodi showed some decent athleticism there.
Redfield is still in real trouble! Can Bodi finish him?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Still in half guard, Bodi seems content to control.
Redfield is looking for a sweep. Bodi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Redfield seems to have recovered his senses.
Redfield won't allow Bodi to pass to mount.
It looks like Bodi is going to stand back up.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Sergio Bodi just wasn't active enough.
Redfield throws a sloppy head kick and Bodi moves out of range easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bodi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Redfield's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Redfield misses with a series of wild punches.

and Redfield takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bodi staying out of range there.
Bodi lands with a shot to the body.

Bodi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Redfield is trying to control the position but Bodi postures up.
Bodi has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Redfield might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bodi kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Bodi won't allow Redfield to sweep him here.
Redfield is breathing heavily.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Bodi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Sergio Bodi.
Bodi fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Redfield on the side of the head.
Redfield doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Bodi.
Bodi scores with a decent looking hook.
Redfield looks to clinch
letting Bodi counter with a right hand.
Redfield tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Bodi counters with a straight right hand.
Bodi throws a half hearted mid kick.
Redfield tries to clinch but Bodi is having none of it.
Redfield rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Bodi counters with a big slam. Redfield looks out but Bodi is landing strikes to his unconscious opponent! Eventually the ref steps in to save Redfield from any more punishment. A brutal conclusion to the fight!
