The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jobber vX enables Hieron to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jobber vX manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Hieron stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jobber vX swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jobber vX is still in real trouble! Can Hieron finish him?
Hieron seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hieron is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hieron seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jobber vX for as long as he can get away with.

Derrick Hieron has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Hieron instigates a clinch.

Hieron has clasped his hands together around Jobber vX's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hieron scores with a couple of short elbows.
Hieron happy to just control the position for now.
Hieron's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Hieron clinches up with Jobber vX and pushes him back against the cage.
Hieron will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Jobber vX up against the cage.

Hieron manages to break the clinch.

Hieron scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Hieron really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hieron has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Hieron tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hieron has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hieron is working to tighten is grip on Jobber vX's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Jobber vX has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Hieron is really squeezing tight and eventually Jobber vX passes out! Hieron breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
