The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pep misses with a hook.
Pep thuds his right hand into Calzaghe's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Calzaghe fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pep avoids it really well and circles away.
Pep throws a leg kick that misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pep. Calzaghe does a little dance to reset his feet.
Pep lands a nice hook to Calzaghe's body. Calzaghe takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Calzaghe chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Pep can pounce on him.
Pep will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Frankie Pep seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Calzaghe is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Pep, right into the meat.
Pep lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Pep tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Calzaghe's elbow.

Calzaghe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Calzaghe. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
