PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Angry BlackGuy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sheamus Shaunessy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaunessy has chosen Sean Jenn - Written in my Face as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and James Atkins.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
BlackGuy scores with a kick to the midsection.

Shaunessy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. BlackGuy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Shaunessy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Shaunessy goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, BlackGuy has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Shaunessy but great work by BlackGuy.
BlackGuy gets to mount! Shaunessy was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
BlackGuy scoring with strikes but Shaunessy is staying in there.

BlackGuy cracks Shaunessy with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Shaunessy is desperately trying to improve his position but BlackGuy has a good base and remains in mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

BlackGuy has control of Shaunessy's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shaunessy regains control of the situation pretty easily.

BlackGuy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
BlackGuy perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Shaunessy wants to sweep but BlackGuy has passed to side control!
Shaunessy trying his best to control but BlackGuy has mounted him.
BlackGuy lands a big shot there that rocks Shaunessy but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Shaunessy is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Shaunessy wants to hold on but BlackGuy pushes him away.
Shaunessy is trying to escape the mount.
BlackGuy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
BlackGuy has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Shaunessy's face.
Shaunessy is trying desperately to improve position.

BlackGuy prevents Shaunessy from improving his position.
BlackGuy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shaunessy keeps working.

Shaunessy looking for submissions off his back.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
BlackGuy wants to free his trapped foot but Shaunessy is holding on for dear life with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Angry BlackGuy dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Shaunessy closes the distance and clinches up with BlackGuy, looking for a takedown. Shaunessy pushes BlackGuy against the cage but BlackGuy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Horrible takedown by Shaunessy or perhaps it was just good defense by BlackGuy which made him look bad.

Angry BlackGuy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sheamus Shaunessy.
Shaunessy lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for BlackGuy!

Shaunessy moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, BlackGuy has worked his arm free - good work by BlackGuy!
BlackGuy can't do much from the bottom here.
BlackGuy is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Shaunessy is controlling him well.

Shaunessy swings around for an armbar but BlackGuy sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Shaunessy's guard.
BlackGuy wants to control from the top but Shaunessy keeps moving.
BlackGuy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Shaunessy wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and BlackGuy is now in half guard.
Shaunessy is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute BlackGuy jumps into side control!
Shaunessy tries to control but BlackGuy manages to take his back.
I really don't envy Shaunessy right now.
Shaunessy is taking damage to the body and head.
BlackGuy is hanging on to Shaunessy's back as he tries to escape.
Shaunessy is breathing heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
BlackGuy scores with punches from the back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
BlackGuy lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by BlackGuy.
You can see the frustration on Shaunessy's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

BlackGuy has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Shaunessy.
Angry BlackGuy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Shaunessy tries to improve his position but BlackGuy has taken his back! BlackGuy has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Shaunessy tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! BlackGuy pushes Shaunessy away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
