The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Manliest closes the distance and clinches up with Emerson, looking for a takedown. Manliest pushes Emerson against the cage but Emerson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Manliest drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Emerson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Manliest has Emerson in his guard.

Manliest escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Emerson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Manliest is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Emerson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
