Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Connely!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, J Blunts!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blunts pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Blunts looks to score with a jab to the body but Connely is just out of range.
Blunts scores with a jab to the body.
Connely throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Blunts has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Blunts there as he acknowledges the shot.
Blunts is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Connely.
Connely takes a kick to the side of the head.


It looks like Chris Connely has been cut.
Blunts loads up on a big right hand but Connely slips the punch.
Connely misses with a hook. Blunts ducked under it nicely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Blunts misses the shot to the body.
Blunts with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Connely to score with a decent uppercut.
Connely swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Connely will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Blunts throws a right and a left that Connely avoids nicely.
Blunts tries a low kick but Connely avoids it.
Blunts misses with a wild body shot.

Blunts thuds his right hand into Connely's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Blunts takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Connely looks to land a left hand but Blunts moved out of range nicely.
Blunts looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Connely stalks Blunts and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Blunts's face. Blunts staggers backwards, shaken.
Blunts connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Connely momentarily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Connely connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Blunts blocks a jab.
Connely misses with a hook.
Blunts slips a straight right by Connely.
Blunts lands a leg kick that knocks Connely off balance momentarily.
Connely is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Connely connects with an inside leg kick.

Blunts feints and as Connely raises his hands in defense, Blunts changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Blunts trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Blunts is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Blunts stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Connely swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Blunts has gone for a leg lock! Connely slips out almost immediately though and dives into Blunts's guard.
Connely has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Blunts has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Connely has passed into side control.

Connely tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Connely has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blunts tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Connely wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Blunts gets back to half guard.

Blunts is defending against the submission attempts here by Connely.
Blunts is trying to control but can't.
Connely is looking to take a break and control but Blunts is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Connely looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Blunts wants to control but Connely is keeping busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Connely wants to control but Blunts is keeping him busy.

Connely is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Blunts is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Connely is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Chris Connely will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Blunts fails with a takedown attempt.
Blunts takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Connely waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Blunts.
Connely throws a half hearted mid kick.
Blunts staying out of range there.
Blunts lands with a right hand.
Connely throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nice cross by Blunts.
A looping hook to the body misses from Connely. Blunts does a little dance to reset his feet.
Connely ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Connely shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Blunts as he avoids it easily.
Connely fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blunts manages to avoid it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Connely throws a hook to the side of Blunts's head but Blunts sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A cross from Connely lands.
A big right from Connely misses.
Connely throws a looping overhand right but Blunts ducks down to avoid it.
Connely walks into a jab.
Blunts keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Connely.
Blunts avoids the head kick by Connely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Connely.
Blunts connects with the punch.
Blunts lands a nice shot to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Blunts is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Connely like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Connely from another fist facial!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). J Blunts!
J Blunts is the new middleweight champion!
After winning the bout, J Blunts thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
