PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lae Praye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Teddy Sayre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Praye comes to the cage accompanied by Carry That Weight. Sayre has chosen A Country Boy Can Survive as his entrance music. Teddy Sayre has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lae Praye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Teddy Sayre!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sayre checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Praye misses with a double jab.
Praye rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Sayre counters with a head kick.
Sayre throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Praye ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sayre moves away.
Praye swinging wildly here.

Sayre darts in and clinches Praye up against the cage.
Praye wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sayre has him pressed against the cage.
Sayre is trying to maintain a safe position but Praye gets an underhook and turns Sayre into the cage.
Sayre taking a breather.
Praye content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Praye really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Praye has clasped his hands together around Sayre's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Sayre regains half guard, as Praye was trying to land strikes.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Praye throwing shots but Sayre is blocking nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Praye throws a strike but Sayre avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Sayre utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Praye trying to control the position from guard on top but Sayre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Praye lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Sayre is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Praye throwing strikes but missing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sayre has control of Praye's left arm, preventing Praye from doing any damage.
Praye trying to control the position from guard on top but Sayre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Praye working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Praye throwing strikes but missing.
Praye wants to control from the top but Sayre keeps moving.
Praye throws a big elbow that misses.
Praye has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Praye trying to control but Sayre is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sayre lands a high kick!
A cross from Sayre lands.
Teddy Sayre is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sayre is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sayre is looking to clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Praye misses the target.
Praye throws a series of punches but Sayre avoids them all with ease.
Sayre throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Praye's head.
Praye on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sayre clinches.

Sayre's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Praye avoids the head kick by Sayre.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Praye does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Praye fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sayre fakes the leg kick and cracks Praye in the body.
Nice defenses there by Sayre.
Praye misses with a wild combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Praye on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Praye throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Teddy Sayre will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Praye crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Sayre - the referee stops the clock and Praye gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Sayre. Praye manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Sayre scores with a head kick. Praye tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Praye fails to land the takedown.
Sayre displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Praye.
Sayre tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Praye paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Sayre counters with a head kick. That will keep Praye thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!


Praye is rocked!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lae Praye. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sayre closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Oh Praye is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sayre's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
A frustrated look appears on Praye's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Sayre putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Praye in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sayre throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Prayes head.
Sayre throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Sayre lands a big knee! That's hurt Praye! Oh, he's all over the place! Sayre lands another knee that sends Praye to the floor and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Teddy Sayre!
An out of breath Teddy Sayre thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
