The crowd seem to be enjoying Gracie's choice of entrance music: Im On One. Roger Gracie will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie throws a half hearted mid kick.
Sloppy strikes from Gracie. Those never looked like landing.
Shimazu throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gracie throws a nice looking combination but Shimazu bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gracie looks to throw the jab but Shimazu is out of range.
Shimazu thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Gracie if he has to take too many more of those.
Shimazu scores with a jab.
Shimazu punishes Gracie's body with a nice straight punch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gracie doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Gracie looks gassed!
Shimazu buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Shimazu lands a nice looking body kick.
Good leg kick by Shimazu there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Shimazu fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gracie has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Shimazu scores with a sloppy right hand. Gracie should have avoided that one.
Shimazu works Gracie's body with a nice hook.
The fighters circle, before Shimazu throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Gracie's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Shimazu lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
