The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aurelius closes the distance and pushes Hammer back into the cage.
Hammer has had enough of the clinch but Aurelius keeps him there for the moment.

Aurelius shoots in for a takedown but Hammer shows good takedown defense.

Aurelius has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hammer clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aurelius wants to control the position but Hammer says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Hammer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aurelius but Aurelius pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That was a close round but I would say that Victor Aurelius will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Aurelius dives in and grabs Hammer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hammer pushes down on Aurelius's head and hops out.
Hammer throws the kick towards the body but Aurelius avoids it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hammer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Aurelius tries to clinch but Hammer moves out of range.
Hammer walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Hammer throws a sloppy head kick and Aurelius moves out of range easily.
Aurelius closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hammer did well to prevent Aurelius getting side control.

Aurelius throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hammer to regain full guard.

Aurelius is just content to waste time from the top position. Hammer takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Hammer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hammer shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Aurelius pinned against the cage. Aurelius gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Aurelius shoots in for a double leg but Hammer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
