The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payton swats away the attempt to clinch by Jumalauta.
Jumalauta fails to land with a series of punches.

Payton darts in and clinches Jumalauta up against the cage.

Payton lands a takedown into guard.
Jumalauta throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Jumalauta wants to stand up but Payton is controlling him.
Jumalauta will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Payton lands a couple of digs.
Payton tries to free his leg and advance position but Jumalauta is retaining full guard.

Payton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Payton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jumalauta wants to get back to his feet but Payton is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Payton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jumalauta looks gassed!
Payton advances to half guard.
Jumalauta won't allow Payton to pass to mount.
Payton moves nicely into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jumalauta tries to buck Payton off but Payton is having none of it.
Payton cracks Jumalauta with a big elbow.
Payton takes a little break here. Jumalauta wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Payton connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jumalauta some visible discomfort.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Payton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Payton in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Jumalauta is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
