The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gameiro walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

It looks like Reinaldo Gameiro has been cut.
Gameiro misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Belfort lands a two punch combo.

Gameiro closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Belfort quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Belfort wants to get back to his feet.
Gameiro is taking a breather. Belfort says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Gameiro is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Belfort defends it well.
Gameiro seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Belfort has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gameiro is working away from the top position though.

Gameiro decides to stand up.
Gameiro is trying hard to land a takedown here. Belfort sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Belfort scores with a crisp jab that stopped Gameiro in his tracks.
Gameiro throws a wild hook but Belfort just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Gameiro gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Belfort raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
