PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Yoo Doss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and joe pertally (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yoo Doss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, joe pertally!
The judges for this bout are , and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Doss forces pertally back against the ropes and clinches.

Doss escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
No luck for pertally with that takedown attempt.
pertally fails with the takedown.

Doss changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. pertally looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
pertally tries to improve position but can't.
Doss creates some space and throws a big elbow, but pertally sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Doss decides to stand back up. Doss steps back and let's pertally get back to his feet.

Doss fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. pertally sprawls well initially but Doss persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Doss tries to pass the half guard into mount. pertally knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Doss keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Doss looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Doss is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

pertally looking for submissions off his back.
Doss sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. pertally defending well though.
Doss is stalling here. pertally is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Doss seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and pertally has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Doss wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Doss looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A solid leg kick lands there for Doss.
pertally defending well as Doss loads up on a big left hand.
pertally has his takedown stuffed

and Doss counters by clinching up.
Yoo Doss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of joe pertally.
pertally missing with knees to the body.
Doss tries to pull guard but pertally won't allow it.

Doss breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

pertally takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
pertally tries to hold on but Doss postures up.

Doss stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Doss fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with pertally, pushing him back against the ropes.

pertally misses with a punch on the inside.
Doss using the Thai plumb to throw knees but pertally has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

pertally fails in his attempt to clinch.

and pertally holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
pertally fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Doss has pertally pressed up against the ropes. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Doss pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending pertally tumbling to the mat - Doss dives into pertally's guard.

Doss gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Doss closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Doss lands in his opponent's guard.

Doss thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
pertally can't keep his opponent in guard - Doss advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Doss is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
pertally is not content to let Doss control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yoo Doss dominated that round.
That's time! Doss's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Doss throws a nice inside leg kick.
Doss with a poor takedown

and pertally moves into the clinch.

Doss ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Doss no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Doss escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. pertally gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Doss is trying to keep pertally in close.
Doss looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but pertally puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Yoo Doss overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Doss manages to get to full guard.
pertally slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Doss.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Doss tries to roll over but pertally keeps him under control.

Doss pushes pertally off and gets back to his feet.
pertally connects with a looping right hand.

Doss shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Doss showed some decent athleticism there.
Doss thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed pertally's head.
pertally has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Doss is working away from the top position though.

pertally is looking for a sweep. Doss is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Doss stalling.
It looks like Doss is going to stand back up.
pertally trying to hold on to Doss's head to control him but Doss postures up.
Doss performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Doss stands up from half guard.

Doss closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Doss trying to control the action but pertally is working from the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Doss decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Doss stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Doss drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Doss has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Doss passes pertally's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Doss passes the guard and advances to mount!
Doss takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
pertally is trying desperately to improve position.

Doss is looking to advance position but pertally won't allow it.

Doss decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Doss looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Doss wants to stand up but pertally is controlling the position.

Doss is taking a breather. pertally says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
pertally is trying to get back to full guard.

Doss content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Doss moves into full mount! pertally won't be happy about that!

Doss trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Doss prevents pertally from getting the reversal.
pertally is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
pertally throwing hammer fists to the chest of Doss. What's that going to do exactly?

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Doss lands with some vicious ground and pound - can pertally hang on?

pertally takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The referee warns pertally that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Well Doss has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
