PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daytona Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Around (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Al Around told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daytona Fernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Al Around!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Around closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Around lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Around looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Fernandez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Around doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Around manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fernandez has a closed guard, preventing Around from standing up.
Fernandez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Fernandez sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Fernandez moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Around avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Around has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Fernandez to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Around is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Fernandez pulls down on the head and he's put Around to sleep! This one is all over!
